Here’s the thing… apparently, I need to tweak my system because I came home to find the valance on the floor (and I didn’t put it there). FAIL. So, as soon as I can figure out how to get it up and to stay there, I’ll let you know and that way you can learn from my mistakes. The trick is that it’s made of foam board that’s all of 3/16th inches thick, so there’s not a lot of places to put hooks or things, but I’ll figure something out.
In the meantime, how about some eye candy ala Pinterest?
Loving this entry way makeover from Happily Home After and for $25??? Awesome!
I’m super jealous of this staircase makeover from SAS Interiors (do you read her blog? You should). She ripped up the carpet on a whim one day to see what was underneath and she found perfectly beautiful wood treads. That would NEVER happen to me!
How cute is this? Shanty 2 Chic always has great DIY ideas. A regular piece of wood from the hardware store, a drill and test tubes from Amazon… voila! Cutest bud vase ever.
OK and I know this one isn’t home or DIY related, but it’s possibly the greatest invention ever…
To cover your heels when walking on the grass!!! Brilliant! They are called Heels Above High Heel Protector - Clear
And then this just made me laugh…
July and August are the only times of the year that I start to loose faith in the South.

Ha! Hilarious! I hope can work out the mounting system of the valance!
ReplyDeleteYour house is older, right? I bet you have nice wood treads under that carpet!
ReplyDeleteOh, sorry about your valance. Seems like many of my projects have similar results. I'm looking forward to your tutorial.
ReplyDeleteIt seriously makes me cringe when I see designers on HGTV ALWAYS take out bedroom ceiling fans. Ceiling fans are a year round (almost) necessity in the South, PEOPLE!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Our bedroom ceiling fan goes pretty much 24/7. One, because it's too hot to turn it off, and two, I don't want to see the dust and gunk that's collected on top of the blades :)
ReplyDeleteI never thought in a million years that I would say, "You can't touch my ceiling fan" but here in Texas you better believe it's true. You would literally die without one going 24/7. We have them turned on in every room. :)
ReplyDeletei am on the ceiling fan bandwagon.... i can't live without it in my room!!!!! and my kids have them, too! :)
ReplyDeletehahaha, on the shoe covers and the ceiling fan quote. and I totally pinned Robin's entry when I saw it at her place and am in love with the stairs and wood/test tube bud vase. So, umm, yeah ... love it all. :)
ReplyDeleteMaury,
ReplyDeleteI love the valance....floor or not :) And the grass shoe walkers....brilliant!
blessings,
karianne
Gah, is there anything you CAN'T find on pinterest?? I actually really love that test tube vase.
ReplyDeleteSorry for laughing about the valance on the floor. ;)
Sorry to hear about your valance situation. I hope it gets back up on the wall where it belongs (and stays there) soon! :)
ReplyDeleteAside from the minor setback, the bathroom is looking awesome! That ikat valance is completely great! And what bathroom would be complete without a fabulous monogram? (c;
ReplyDeleteHi Mars,
ReplyDeleteHave a great time at IKEA this weekend, definitely one of my fav shopping destinations :)
I arrived at your blog while searching for valance ideas and stayed and started reading cause I like it here {now following} ... what a fun surprise to see my foyer and how sweet of you to blog about it as a Pinterest Inspiration! Thanks! And I think those grass walkers are so smart too.
Back to my valance, not certain what I'm going to do, I need to make them for 2 or maybe even 3 different rooms, so I have to do something different with each or it will be super boring.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi and thanks! Robin @ happilyhomeafter
