Here’s the room. It’s directly across the hall from our room (maybe three steps). I’ll get you some better before pictures.
Here’s what I know:
The wall color is going to be the green (it’s actually a shade lighter than that but I couldn’t find the actual color). And the ceiling is going to be pale blue. I’m going to use the Jenny Lind crib that I used when I was a baby, but there may be a color change. I haven’t decided. The bedding is going to be exactly like the picture. It’s Pottery Barn’s Scallop Pique Nursery Bedding. Simple and classic. I love it.
The big impact is going to be a accent wall with a fabric tree. I am so excited about this. I love all the different colors and patterns on the leaves.
My husband’s family is giving us an upholstered glider and I’m so excited about it. It’s similar in style to the one above but I’ll need to get a new slipcover for it, but I haven’t even started looking at which one.
I’m hoping to pick up this dresser this weekend. I love the details of the dental molding and the sides. This will be the changing table/storage in the nursery:
Obviously, there will be some painting to be done to it and probably some new pulls, but for $50 I get the dresser, mirror and side table (which will probably go next to the glider).
My goal is to have the big elements done by Thanksgiving, so that’s painting, the tree, dresser, crib and glider. That way I can enjoy the holidays and not really stress about finishing things up until January.
Here’s the to-do list:
- Repair the walls from previous wallpaper removal
- Paint the walls and ceiling
- Replace the fan
- Buy/paint dresser and night stand
- Paint crib??? Maybe, maybe not.
- Hang curtains
- Make fabric tree decal
- Hang artwork and mirror
- Purchase slipcover for glider
- Reupholster ottoman.

Love those colors and I can't wait to see the fabric tree / decal "grow" in the room ... sounds like such a cool way to add color, pattern, and customization to a room. Makes me think of the "reading tree" at my local library when I was young; you'll be able to sit under it and read wonderful stories to your little one :)
ReplyDeleteooh i love those colors and love the tree!!!! awesome!
ReplyDeleteok, not to be that girl, but i am going to for a sec and you probably have already done this but make sure you check all of the modern crib regulations.... rail width, etc.... they change so often and cribs are deemed outdated and unsafe super quickly with all the rules. ok, i will stop now. just want to make sure baby is safe! :)
Holy cow you're pregnancy has gone fast...for me.
ReplyDeleteLove the plan!!
I love the plan so far, Maury! The green & blue color scheme and that cute ric rac bedding - adorable!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Love that tree and it will be so much fun for baby's room. Figuring out a plan is always the hardest part for me. You've got a great one and quite the to-do list...
ReplyDeletePretty color combination and I love the fabric tree you are going to place on the wall! It will be so cute! I can't wait to see everything after you've finished. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great plan...I love your ideas! I think the nursery will be absolutely beautiful when you are done! :)
ReplyDeleteReally love what you're thinking. Such a lucky little baby to have such a lovely room!
ReplyDeleteThat's going to be beautiful! I love that you're using a dresser instead of a changing table. I'm on a mission to rid the world of one-time-use changing tables that are essentially pointless. Can't wait to see this room come together!
ReplyDeleteI know you must be so excited, Maury! Love the color scheme! That fabric tree is amazing!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day rock star!

How fun is that fabric tree! This is going to be a really special nursery. I love that your baby will sleep in the same crib you used as a baby.
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with the fabric tree! I can't wait to see it all come together!
