Master Bathroom Updates

Does it seem like I haven’t posted on anything project related lately? That’s because I haven’t. It’s been almost 3 weeks since I updated you on the Mudroom and much longer since we’ve talked about the Master Bathroom.
I know, I’m a bad blogger.
We’ve made a lot of progress in the Mudroom (and by me, I mean John) but I’m actually close enough that I don’t think I’m going to show you anything else until we do the reveal (which still could be weeks away).
I can give you an update on the Master Bathroom.
Master Bathroom
I gave John this art for his birthday. It’s a nice Van Gogh print (I bet you thought it was real, huh?). The framing was actually more expensive than the print, but I had to make sure that the print was well protected since it’s going in a humid bathroom.
Master Bathroom
(A little props for myself: can we say MUCH BETTER PICTURE? Amazing.
If I took anything away from Haven, I’d be excited if it was the photography stuff).
I think the print fills that space over the tub really well and goes with our color palette in here but ads a little more color that we were needing.
I also choose the fabric for the valance:
Master Bathroom
It’s called Dorrigan Ikat Lagoon and I think it’s going to have the effect that I want. At least I hope. Any ideas for how to trim it? Do I have to make piping?  Because I really don’t wanna, says the lazy seamstress.
One of the other big changes we made is we FINALLY replaced these horrible lights:

with these:

I picked the fixtures up at our local Habitat Restore for $4.50 each, but they were brass, so I spray painted them in Oil Rubbed Bronze and bought some new globes off ebay. Not bad for $30 total.
So now, my biggest questions mark remains… what the heck do I do with those mirrors? I’ve looked into replacing them but I haven’t really found anything I love. Do I paint them a fun color? If so, what color? I’m completely stumped.

  2. i didn't know you had a van gogh in your home? seriously!
    love the colors!
and i agree that i think the mirror looks good as is. i don't think a color would better it at all. if anything if it is not working with the ORB (it looks great from the photo!) you could spray it with the same ORB.

  4. We sold that print in the store where I worked and I've always loved it. It's going to look perfect with the ikat fabric! I don't think you have to make piping for the valance. Maybe just hemming it will be fine...says the lazy girl!

  12. Oooh I didn't know you could buy new globes off of ebay! I want to replace the ones in the ceiling fan we hijacked from one of the bedrooms to use in our enclosed porch, but was stumped about how to replace them. And yes, your pictures look great! You go, girl! :)
