About Me

WELCOME!
P1010706
I'm Maury and I'm pretty new to the blogosphere. I'm 30 (YIKES), married to an incredible man, expecting our first child in February and we're updating a new-to-us home in South Carolina. Whew... when I put it like that, it's no wonder we're kinda tired. We are on a TINY budget (like itsy bitsy) and we're updating it it room-by-room, trying to make it home.

A little about me…Wedding-17 I’ve lived in South Carolina most of my life. I was born in Charleston, but grew up in Greenville. My husband, John, and I were married in January 2008. He’s an amazing man and I feel so blessed that he’s in my life.

God has blessed us with an incredible gift in this home. We believe that He blesses us so that we can in turn bless others. My prayer is that John and I will use this house to glorify Him and be a blessing to everyone who enters.

What are my passions?
My world is all about my faith, my family and friends. Beyond that, I love my dog, Maille, home decor, cooking, and Asian food (lots and lots of Asian food).

How can I connect with you?
Oh let me count the ways... it’s actually getting kinda crazy how many ways there are…

John and Maury 1st pictureWhy should you read my blog?
To be honest, I’m not 100% sure about that. I started this as a way to journal about updating our home. I wanted to celebrate our accomplishments and be able to laugh about our failures. To my surprise, people (other than my parents) are reading and coming back. I have a little of everything from random tidbits about my life, to DIY, to home decor and recipes. Whatever I find interesting will eventually find its way to my blog. I also have a addiction to reading other blogs, so I'll be sharing those as I find new ones worth mentioning.

What is the best decorating advice you’ve been given?
1. Start with a “jumping-off point.” It can be a fabric that you love, a pattern, a pillow, a shirt… something that inspires you and gives you a vision.
2. When in doubt, go with neutrals and build the color and fun into your accent pieces.
3. Design one room at a time. Don't try to skip around in a million different projects (I have a hard time with this one. At the time of writing this, I’m working on two rooms, plans for a  third and the outside).

  3. You are so stinking cute! I am so glad that you linked up. I think most of us are on a tiny budget and going from room to room :) I think it is better that way. If we could finish it all at once, what we do with our time after that???

  5. This is super random, but how do you pronounce your dog's name? I ask because I have a little chihuahua named Mali (sounds like Sally). I got her when she was about 5 and her previous owners named Mali, short for Malibu. It's a pretty random name and most people have never heard of it, so I was just curious as to how your "Maille" was pronounced. :-)

I hope you had a happy birthday. It's not so bad this being 30...I'm 26 years past that and as you get older, you'll actually get happier!

I love your pretty bathroom. May I ask where you purchased your shower curtain and what color of blue is on the ceiling?

You are very talented. I found you at the linky party.

    1. Eva, thank so much for your sweet comments. The shower curtain was actually a wedding gift. It was a simple shower curtain with the brown satin edging and then the K was embroidered by a local embroidery shop.

  7. I absolutely love what you guys have done to your home. My husband and I remodeled his Grandparents house and it was alot of hard work, lots of sweat and a whole lot of tears, but in the end that house turn out great. Alot of people think it is so expensive to redo alot of things in a home, and it is, but it is amazing what a $25 gallon of paint can accomplish! I've really enjoyed your blog. Keep up the good work!
Oh, and by the way, life does get better after 30! :)
